Updated: Jan 5

Chow Mein, yummy/ Chow Mein. Bouncy chow mein noodles stir fried in a savory simple sauce with crunchy cabbage, celery, onions. A quick and easy recipe made in one pan! It serves well as the perfect side dish. Ready in 15 minutes!“Chow mein,” or more accurately pronounced, “chow meen” in Cantonese, literally translates to “fried noodles” or “pan-fried noodles.”

Making Chicken Chow mein:

Add chicken and stir fry until the surface gets a tinge of browning but inside is still raw – about 1 minute. Add the cabbage, carrot, and the white pieces of shallots (i.e. from the base of the stalk). Stir fry for 1 1/2 minutes until the cabbage is mostly wilted. Add the noodles, Sauce and water.

While this is a chicken chow mein recipe, you have a choice of the usual proteins like beef, pork, shrimp, and chicken.

Chow Mein And Lo Mein Use Different Noodles Lo mein typically uses fresh noodles, while chow mein can be made with fresh or dried. Lo mein noodles are typically thick and chewy. Stir-fried noodles in chow mein are thinner and cooked to a golden crisp.

There you have it.
